Confidentiality
Effective counseling is based on a covenant of confidentiality between you and me. Normally, I will ask that you provide me with written permission to speak to anyone about the work we are doing together. Only under very specific circumstances, as defined by Florida law, (see the Informed Consent) could there be an exception to this strict confidential relationship. Such exceptions will be discussed prior to beginning counseling.

Fees, Payment, and Insurance
Counseling fees are $ 175 per hour for individual, couple, or family counseling. Counseling sessions exceeding 60 minutes will be pro-rated and billed accordingly. Group counseling fees are dependent upon the size and length of the group. Telephone consultation and other professional activities rendered on behalf of the client are also billed at $ 175 per hour. There is never a charge for short telephone "check-in" or scheduling coordination. Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise arranged in advance.

I am not a contracted managed care or insurance provider; therefore I can not accept insurance payment. For all services, you will be provided a receipt for filing with your insurance company for reimbursement. Insurance coverage varies, not all counseling services qualify for coverage. Additionally, insurance benefits require that a mental health diagnosis be rendered indicating the medical necessity for treatment. Generally, claims will not be accepted without a mental health diagnosis. Like any medical diagnosis, your diagnosis and treatment will become a permanent part of our medical records. Please refer to your policy for a complete description of benefits and requirements.

The person receiving services or parent/legal guardian is responsible for payment of any professional fees regardless of the insurance coverage. In circumstances where problems are encountered in receiving payment for services rendered, you may be billed additional charges to cover the cost of time and expenses incurred.

Cancellations
Services are by appointment only. Other than a genuine emergency or illness, you will be billed for missed appointments unless the office is notified 24 hours in advance.

Emergencies
I always attempt to be responsive to client emergencies. Clients are welcome to call my office or cell phone at any time. I will respond as soon as possible. However, if there is a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. Additionally, there are times when I am traveling, conducting a seminar or workshop, or teaching. During those times I may not receive a voice or email message for several hours. I will return the call as soon as possible.
